Gosh I don't even remember what I talked about in my last post. Not too much has been going on. We actually found a caterer that we like. We interviewed her and everything. Food was good, price was good, and services sounded good. Problem is, she took forever to send us the contract. It was almost a month before I got the thing. I got it the other night through my wedding planner and had to answer a few questions. I don't know if that was the final contract or if she was going to revise it after I answered the questions...I don't know. She say she's been busy with a lot of events. I'm just ready to get this part done with so that I can tackle the next thing. You know, I wish I had a lot of money. I think most of these things would've been done by now and I could spend my time taking care of my family without worrying about wedding stuff. But right now, I'm not a millionaire so I have to deal with it the best way I know how. I'm ready to get a photographer secured and find my dress. Oh yeah, I did find a dress that I liked but they don't have it in my size so that I could see what it looks like on me. It looks good on the mannequin but me and the mannequin are not the same size so...I'd like to try it on. Anyway, I'll be back to post as soon as I get more money. I'll be able to do some things then. Until next time, live your life how u wanna.

Almost a month til my 12 month countdown
It's St. Patrick's Day. Wore my green today. Anyway, I was without a computer for about 2 weeks. Those darn viruses. I'm back now and I've been in contact with my wedding planner. She's given me a list of caterers and photographers to check out. Haven't done it yet. Maybe tomorrow. There are 2 caterers that have really good prices, however, one is offering linens and things so that might be the one I go with. I need to taste their food first though. I've been sending my wonderful wedding planner pictures of centerpieces and table settings that I like so that she can have an idea of my style. So far, things are going pretty well. Besides not knowing where all of this money is going to come from, that is. I have decided to start working out. Need to lose some inches off my waist and hips. After I've reached my goal, or 2 months, which ever one comes first, I will get back out there and look for 'The Dress'. I'm feeling good though. Making progress. Excercise is wonderful. I'm just happy that I'm doing something about my weight. It has really gotten out of hand. Now I have to put it in check. Well, I guess that's all for now. Until next week, live your life and live it how you want to live it.

Happy Birthday 2 Me!
Yes today is my 26th birthday. I'm not getting old I'm becoming more experienced, lol. Well, lets see, I have reserved my wedding reception site. 1 down, a million to go. No, but that's the biggest part that I had to take care of. And now it is so on to something else. I need to get in contact with the caterers and get one booked. Find my beautiful dress. I've seen a couple that I like. They're actually bridesmaids dresses but they suit my style perfectly. The "bridal" gowns have too much going on with them for me. All of this beadwork and jewels; not my taste. Anywho, I know where the bridesmaids are getting their dresses from and all but one have chosen a few dresses that they like. We're making progress. I'm ready to get a photographer booked. Besides the reception, that's where a lot of our money will be going. I will splurge on some good quality pictures. I'm constantly doing research on wedding stuff. Lately its been finding out where I could rent a convertible Mercedes Benz from and how much it will cost. I'm looking for decoration ideas too. Don't plan on spending a lot of money or using a lot of flowers in the centerpieces so I'm trying to find some nice do it yourself centerpieces. Something unique. Anyway, I'm going to enjoy the rest of my birthday. Until next time, live your life and live it how you want to live it.

Past 2 Weeks
Well not much has been going on since I last posted. I plan to take my wedding planner and my two sisters to see the site that Quentin and I have chosen for our wedding and reception but thats about it. Oh yeah, if possible, after we check out the sites, I intend to continue the search for my wedding gown. Yay! Hopefully I'll find the one and I can go ahead and get that out of the way. Also, if everyone agrees that the site that we picked is 'the spot' then I'll go ahead and book that too. That would be 3 things down. Then I can start having meetings with caterers and photographers and dj's and florists. I've been reading my handy dandy little book called Bridal Bargains by Denise and Alan Fields. It gives tips on how to save money and avoid bridal scams and mark ups or what nots. I love it. I feel so prepared now. I have been a little weary about this whole recession thing. A lot of businesses are going out of business and I don't want to be caught up in it. You know, people take your money and disappear. I'm praying on it though. Well, we'll see how things go this week. Until then, peace, love, and happiness!

Reception Venu
So, after all of this looking and being disappointed, I think we have finally found the spot. Its a beautiful spot. Has enough room for us to sit and eat, and to dance. Yay! It has neutral colors so it should be easy to decorate. Lets me choose which caterer I want. The ones I've been looking up have been pretty pricey ($45 a plate on average). One place even had a gallon of tea priced at $28 a gallon. Crazy money. I did find some reasonable priced ones more recently. I'll have to give them a call and see what the deal is. I also went looking for my dress. My two lovely and helpful sisters helped me out and we narrowed it down from 8 to 3. I'm going to try on some more dresses to see if there's one that makes me cry ;-) That will be the one. The lady at the dress shop tried to force me to wear a veil. I put it on, but I ain't wearing a veil for my wedding. Not my style. Things are beginning to come together, thank God. I was starting to get discouraged. Almost said to hell with a wedding, lets elope. But things are looking up. Might have to change my blog title. Nah. It has a nice ring to it. Oh, my wedding planner is a doll too. So helpful. Well, until next time, I'll be continuing my research and counting down the days.

What's been happening so far
Well, since Quentin and I have gotten engaged, we've been scouting locations, interviewing wedding planners, looking for caterers, DJ's, etc. Well, mostly I've been doing all the work; Quentin just accompanies me to most of the meetings or listen when I tell him prices. I wish that he would get a little more involved because this thing is stressing me out. After talking to 4 wedding planners, we chose Savonia Adams, owner of Rocquils. So far, she's really cool. But before we chose our wedding planner, we checked out a few places that folks had recommended using for our ceremony and reception. We've decided that to save time and money, we would get married on a Friday evening and have everything in the same spot. One place we looked at was alright; layout was kind of awkward. The gazebo area that they had was nice but it was main street right beside it. Can you say disaster waiting to happen? I do not want some idiot beeping their horn while I'm saying my vows. Oh and this lovely place had ugly green carpets. No thanks. The next place is an old house with a beautiful patio to hold the ceremony but the inside area for the reception was disappointing. All the rooms were separated and each room had a different color. Then there were rooms on different floors. Not ideal for a reception where everyone would like to mingle. Plus their menu prices were out of this world. I can't spend $40 on some jazzed up finger foods. The whole place was just too expensive with all of these rentals and things like that. This stuff starts adding up. I went to check another place that I had fallen in love with from the pictures I'd seen. Big disappointment. The dance floor could fit maybe 5 people. They advertised it to fit the amount of guest that I'm having and more with a dance floor. Its a beautiful place but they are false advertising. My feelings were hurt :-( We're still looking for a location for our April wedding. I have some things scheduled for this week and next week and I have the help of my wedding planner so wish me luck. I am excited though because it is time to start looking for my dress. Yay! My dad thinks that I should rent my dress. LMAO How nasty

Engagement
My fiance asked me to marry him on November 29, 2008. I told him I wanted him as my fiance for Christmas but I also told him that if he can't afford the ring right now, that he should wait until he can. I wasn't expecting him to propose the day he did. It was the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We were relaxing at home with our little boy. I was browsing through a Modern Bride magazine I think it was. I was reading the Q&A section where a bride was saying that her grandmother didn't understand how she could be engaged without an engagement ring. I read aloud to my boyfriend the answer which was something like, ring or not, if you're planning your wedding then you're already engaged. So he says, "well that means I don't have to buy you a ring then." He was joking but I got upset because I felt like he was trying to get out of buying me a ring. I let him know that I was mad and of course he laughs it off. I stormed off upstairs to our bedroom, feelings hurt, and locked myself in. After awhile I hear him crank his car up and he tells me he's going to the store. He comes upstairs to get his wallet which I've already put in the hallway but he makes an excuse to come in the room. I let him and he pretends to look for something. Then he walks up to me and apologizes and asks if I know he loves me. I'm still upset so I say, "I guess". He says, "you guess?" Then, he proceeds to get down on one knee and starts pulling what I thought was a ring I already had out. Of course its not. Its the beautiful ring he bought me and he asks me to marry him. I'm shocked. Speechless. I say, "yes of course" and we hug and kiss and I stare at my ring wondering when he had time to go and buy it. Our then 3 month old was the first person I told. My fiance tells me that he had his older sister find the ring that fits my style and his aunt went and got it from her up in Charlotte. I was so excited and shocked even though I knew we were going to get married anyway.
